About my Barefoot Safari experience:

I really felt like I was at home in your house. You and your wife are nice and kind people.

I was impressed of your knowledge immensely and liked to listen your stories about the nature and animals. There were not only stories but much more. I love the way that how you respect the living beings, your humble, your passion and I know that THIS IS YOUR LIFE! I had a fantastic opportunity to learn about all kind of animal’s habits and could get know many beautiful birds. Ken, you really know everything about Africa and whatever I asked I always got lot of information that I appreciate very much. Thank you for the fantastic places where you took me and I also love your sense of humour. It is brilliant! You gave me  more then a safari tour, you introduce me the other face of Africa. Of course I will go back again with my family and I know that we will have wonderful vacation WITH YOU!

Warm regards,

Krisztina (Hungary)

South Africa and Swaziland

Hi Ken

I arrived back to the States intact.

It was a wonderful trip and your contribution is greatly appreciated.  My one desire should I return to Africa is to do an extensive bush safari and try to discover – to the extent it still exists – the “true” or “authentic” Africa (without jeopardizing my safety). I look forward to your reading list.

Best to you and Eva.

June 2015

After numerous trips to Africa travelling independently, our recent month in Botswana and Mozambique with our 8 friends, guided by Barefoot  Safaris, was full of fun and adventure. Rudolf was fabulous host and guide, and we have many happy memories of our week camping including Rudolf’s gourmet meals, and the wonderful humour shared around the evening campfires. We had some fantastic wildlife experiences along the way and I am sure none of us will forget the leopard kill of a wildcat right in front of us! Sausage Tree provided a little bit of pure luxury for us all midway through our trip and the sand, beach bars and local markets of Mozambique were a fitting end to our travels. It was a sad farewell from us all to Rudolf in Johannesburg after our month of travel as they feel more like friends than travel guides. Ken and Eva’s house, plus their hospitality ,was amazing.

Until next time!

Cynthia & Paul

South Africa and the Cape is an absolutely fascinating country - one which fully deserves to be known better. The infrastructure details were accurately described in your brochure, and any shortcomings were made up with the richness of historical culture offered to us. Thank you for a brilliant holiday Ken.

June 2013

Safari Kruger and Swaziland .

I would like to thank Ken Smith Barefoot Safaris for yet another fabulous Safari this June . We had some wonderful sightings of Rhinos in Kruger South Africa ) and in Hlane (Swaziland )plus a lot of new birds including the Bald Ibis . The accommodation was superb , the vehicle very comfortable and the guiding first class as always . Also the pre safari accommodation at The Glass Manor (Johannesburg ) added a touch of luxury before our journey started and was an ideal place to wind down at the end of the Safari .

Thanks again Ken for a wonderful adventure.

Johannesburg to Dar es Salaam

Our safari with Barefoot Safaris has been extraordinary. We started in Johannesburg at the home of Ken, the proprietor or Barefoot Safaris, and ...his wife Eva. This was an unexpected delight. We had no idea we would be treated to an extraordinary luxury braii (a traditional South African barbecue) with delicious and copious amounts of South African wine in their very comfortable home. We didn't even know Ken would be the one taking us on this safari, and we feel incredibly lucky. He has lived in South Africa, Rhodesia (present day Zimbabwe) and Malawi over the course of his life and has been leading safaris for 30 years. He is a wealth of knowledge, has vast experience in the African bush, is an easy going, kind man and generally fun to be with.
